Course Introduction

This course covers point of care obstetric and basic gyn ultrasound for Advanced Practice Providers. It includes physics of sonography principles, cross-sectional anatomy, basic non-pregnant anatomy, dating in all three trimesters of pregnancy, and common complications in each trimester. Ideal for anyone who’s using point of care ultrasound — be it in the general ward, private clinic, or basic health units. Learn to use US to increase your success rate, and decrease complications, when performing common procedures.

Module 1: Uterus - Basic Anatomy, Scanning, Hypoplastic uterus, Heamtocolpos & Haematometrocolpos, Mensural Cycle, Ovarian cycle, Uterine cycle, Fibroid, Adenomyosis

Module 2: Ovaries  - Basic  anatomy, Ovarian Pathologies, Follicular retention cyst, Simple cyst, Haemorrhagic cyst, Choclate, Endometriotic Cyst, Dermoid cyst, OHSS, Polycystic Ovaries

Modules 3 & 4: Obstetrics - 1st Trimester: True /False gestational sacs & there, characterstic   features, Ectopic pregnancy, Twin pregnancy, parameters of determining gestational age (CRL, MSD), Threatened Abortion, Blighted ovum, Missed Abortion, Cervical incompetence, Gestational trophoblastic diseases. etc.

2nd Trimester: Normal fetal Anatomy & parameters of determining gestational age (BPD,FL,AC), Fetal congenital anomalies, etc.

3rd Trimester: Placentae, Presentation/Lie, IUGR, Soft markers of pregnancy, etc.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

Perform an ultrasound of OB/GYN organs. Confidently identify normal variants of the OB/GYN organs. Diagnose and document the most common OB/GYN pathologies. Differentiate between benign and malignant changes in OB/GYN organs. Select the key images to document and write a comprehensive ultrasound report.
